PRECONCENTRATION AND DETERMINATION OF PHENOLS USING SOLID-PHASE EXTRACTION AND HPLC

摘要
The preconcentration and determination of 18 species of phenols {phenol, cresol (m-, o-, p-), chlorophenol (m-, o-, p-), bromophenol (m-, o-, p-), dichlorophenol (2,3-, 2,4-, 2,5-, 2,6-, 3,4-, 3,5-), catechol and resorcinol} have been examined using a combined solid phase extraction(SPE) method utilizing divinylbenzene-hydrophilic methacrylate copolymer gel and high performance liquid chromatography equiped with a diode array detector and an electrochemical detector. In the preconcentration of the sample solution (0.5, 5 mu g/l), the recovery rates of phenols were more than 90% with the exception of resorcinol and catechol, and the RSD (n=7) was less than 10%. It is concluded that this method is effective for high sensitivity detection of phenols and is also more suitable for hydrophilic phenols than the SPE: method using octadecyl silane bonded silica gel.
