摘要：
Spinal injury can lead to permanent neurological deficit with far-reaching social and economic consequences. All rescue missions have to follow the ABCDE rule (A, airway; B, breathing; C, circulation; D, drugs; E, evaluation). Cervical and upper thoracic injuries can require artificial respiration. Careful rescue and consequent immobilization can prevent exacerbation of the spinal injury. The main goal is the fast and careful transportation of the spinal injury patient to the nearest suitable hospital. According to recent studies, the protective benefit of pre-clinical cortisone administration is not proven.
