摘要
The revision of a significant and valuable historiography treating the access that women have had to higher education has facilitated a good part of this study. The work is entitled: The access of women to higher education. The case of the University of the Andes. The above mentioned historiography begins in the Middle Ages. The author reveals the shy presence of women that continues to flower during the following centuries. The scenario is first that of several European countries, and then in the New World in the United States. Then the analysis goes on to deal with the access of women to higher education in various Latin American countries. Finally, there is a discussion of the situation in Venezuela, concluding with the situation as it has developed at the University of the Andes in Merida, Venezuela, founded two-hundred years ago.
