Consumocentrismo and its social and environmental consequences of contemporary society

This article analyzes the consumecentrism in modern society and its social and environmental consequences. At first, the authors establish the consumecentrism parameters, visualizing the impact of this new social behavior on contemporary society. Established these references, use it on the social and environmental consequences caused by consumecentrism, allowing a reflection on the way of life, to go beyond the hiperconsume that cause severe and adverse impacts to society and environment. The method used is the analytical, with the bibliographic studies. By the end, presents some considerations that bring possibilities for dealing with problems involving consumption, society and the environment. Meanwhile, conceives the need for a change in modern rationality and sets up new public policies aimed at environmental conservation and minimizing the social impact caused by consumecentrism. These policies, concatenated with the search for social cooperation in a society with less social and environmental injustice.
