Africa: Challenges and Opportunities

Leadership has been the major difference in the African region's positive feedback. African leaders approached the need for change and reform by establishing new institutions and programs to serve Africa in the 21st century. Today, Africa is a profitable investment destination with potential for profitable ventures in diverse areas. HIV/AIDS prevalence and poverty have also declined where 45% of sub-Saharan Africans are living below the poverty line. In spite of these, challenges still linger and surely, the need to confront the challenges of ending abject poverty in Africa is the major issue. This is where increased official development assistance becomes crucial as a supplement and complement to African efforts. Good governance has played a key role for having newer ideas in governments. There may be problems, but they could be regarded as the teething challenges that have come with new growth, steady progress, and development. These prospects open opportunity for an engagement framework between Africans and African Americans. Both should avoid misunderstanding and perception about themselves. All that is needed is joining hands and working together to organize Africa based on a new legitimacy.
