摘要
Objective: To describe our experience in managing severe Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) with outpatient transvaginal paracentesis. Methods: From April 2007 to July 2009, in 10 hyperstimulation cycles, transvaginal paracentesis was performed. The data was retrospectively analyzed. Results: The median of paracentesis performed by patient was 2 (1-2,25), considering that one patient conducted 7 paracentesis. The average volume of ascitis withdrawn per patient was 1807 805 ml. Being the patients hemodynamically stable, there was no limit on the amount of liquid retrieved or in the number of procedures. There were no complications related to the procedure and none of the patients required hospitalization. Conclusion: The outpatient transvaginal paracentesis is an effective and secure measure in case of ascitis, accompanied or not by hydrothorax, in the management of severe OHSS.
