Normal pressure hydrocephalus is a clinical syndrome associated with dementia, urinary incontinence, gait apraxia and computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging evidence of communicating hydrocephalus. In the elderly patient, these symptoms may be overlooked or discounted if the clinician is not we versed in this condition. Normal pressure hydrocephalus has classically been described as an idiopathic disorder. Recent studies indicate that this syndrome may be associated with deep white matter infarction. This article discusses the case of a patient who suffered from this condition. Clinical information is presented.
