摘要：

This paper explores the different Hellenistic and Hebrew focuses on visual and auditory senses, the discrepancy of which is particularly evident in Christianity. Observed in the Hellenistic tradition, the elevation of visual sense triggered off "Icon Worship" so that the perfection of faith could be achieved. In the Hebrew context, however, the "Withdrawal of the Word of God" takes its form via the auditory sense. The tension between the two cultural elements still exerts a lasting impact even today.
