摘要
Brucellosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Brucella spp., produces characteristic infection in animals and can infect humans. It is a cosmopolitan zoonosis, and causes significant health and economic damage. The risk group that is infected with B. abortus is composed of professionals who work with health and animal production or who act directly or indirectly with them. This risk group consists mainly of veterinarians, zootechnicians, caretakers, magarefes, laboratoristas and inspection agents because of proximity to infected animals. Considering the relevant losses and the lack of knowledge that the population has about this disease, this study aimed to perform a survey of the seroprevalence of brucellosis in cattle slaughtered under state supervision in the municipality of Itacoatiara - AM, by means of the Rapid Agglutination Serum test plate with Acidified Buffered Antigen (AAT). A total of 109 bovine blood samples were collected, and 7 (6.42%) were seropositive for brucellosis in the AAT test. Comparing the positivity to the sex of the studied animals, 2 (5.6%) males and 5 (6.8%) seropositive females were observed, but the Pearson chi-square test was applied (P <0.05), this difference was not significant (p> 0.05). This shows the health risks to workers and consumers of contamination with this disease.
