摘要
Two commentaries from the leading German and Luxembourg daily newspapers are examined in regard to the same event, the controversy about the French right-wing satirist Dieudonne. It can be shown that his positions are rejected in both countries, to a significant extent. The semiotic interpretation shows, however, that in Germany the rejection is accepted by a large majority, whilst there exist differently thinking minorities, whereas such minority positions seem to be non-existent in Luxembourg. Another striking point is that the press of Luxembourg is plurilingual in spite of the fact that a new national language is in the process of being codified, whereas in Germany with an established national language only monolingual commentaries can be found.
