摘要：
As a result of the development and implementation of a quality improvement program to control coating weight, coating weight and gloss variation in coated offset papers has been reduced. A year-long preliminary study was conducted to document the coating weight and gloss variation normal to the system. From this study, goals were set to justify the process control system necessary to achieve the desired results. The computer-based process control system for coating weight control which was developed is discussed as far as calibration verification, control strategy, process and quality improvements, and additional benefits gained above set goals. The experience with computer control of coating weight was very favorable and is an indication of the future for the coating industry.
