RATE OF RECOMBINATION OF A NONEQUILIBRIUM ELECTRON-HOLE PLASMA IN CDS LASER CRYSTALS

摘要
A method with a time resolution of 30 ps was used in a study of the rate of recombination of an electron-hole plasma (EHP) in strongly photoexcited CdS crystals grown from the vapor phase characterized by different partial pressures of the cadmium and sulfur vapors. A comparison of the measured optical gain with the results of an analysis of the kinetics of the emitted radiation, carried out allowing for the actual EHP temperature, showed that the crystals with the best lasing characteristics had the lowest efficiency in the unsaturable bimolecular channel of nonradiative recombination of nonequilibrium carriers.
