摘要
High temperature superconductors, possessing low resistance at liquid nitrogen temperature, promise significant advantages over conventional materials. To assist in the development of HTS materials for microwave applications, the surface resistance R(s) needs to be measured over this range of frequencies. This paper deals with the concept of surface resistance, and discusses the techniques involved in making measurements. Particular emphasis is placed on the resonant cavity method and examples are given. Some consideration is also given to the possible applications of HTS materials in microwave components and subsystems.
