摘要
Land systems are described and their selection criteria discussed for a 400 km2 study area in western Crete. References are made to major land use types occurring in each system as determined from interpretation of 1989 aerial photographs. Changes since 1945 are also identified from aerial photos. A manual analysis method is investigated for its validity in defining land systems, land units and ecotopes. A one square kilometre basis for land unit definition is proposed.
