HUMANITIES IN THE COMMODITIZATION'S TIME

Firstly, I propose to discuss the justifications for the teaching of the humanities. Afterwards, I analyze some of these justifications from their philosophical backgrounds that I consider originated in Aristote and Hegel. I identify in Hegel's encyclopedical strategy the kind of argument more used to substantiate humanities' teaching. Then, I indicate reasons whynone of these views are sufficiently strong to convince people of the value of humanities. Finally, employing Lyotard's diagnostic analysis of the contemporary world, I indicate an alternative approach to the teaching of humanities without reference to humanism.
