A REVIEW OF THE PALEARCTIC SPECIES OF THE GENUS STILBUS (COLEOPTERA, PHALACRIDAE)

A review and a key to the Palaearctic species of the genus Stilbus Seidlitz, are given. Eleven new species - Stilbus truncatus sp. n. (Morocco), S. ferrugineus sp. n. (Azerbaidjan), S. meridianus sp. n, (Afghanistan, Japan), S. merkli sp. n. (eastern part of the C.I.S.), S. chinensis sp. n. (China), S. similis sp. n. (Japan, China), S. coxalis, S. bifurcus, S. interpositus, S. confusus and S. japonicus spp. n. (Japan) are described. S. pumilus (Hochhut) is excluded from the genus. Eight new synonyms are proposed. Redescriptions of three species are presented. The shape of median lobe of aedeagus and endophallic structures are used for the first time in the classification of Stilbus. New faunistic data are recorded.
