The use of technology in education: a debate from the alternative of social technology

This article reflects on the problem of the use of technology in education. Its purpose is to present parallels between the use of this tool through traditional, deterministic, linear conception of neutrality and an extended and humanistic view from the perspective of Social Technology, which essentially aims to meet human needs. In this sense, there is an understanding that technology can play roles of inclusion or social exclusion, depending on the way in which it is used. For this, a bibliographical research was carried out in reference works on the themes of education and Social Technology. As a result, it has been shown that the perspective of social technology presents itself as a promising alternative to education, since it prevails in the character of emancipation of the individual and valorization of its context in the search for social transformation.
