APPLYING THE COIN-TAP TEST TO ADHESIVES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING - A NUMERICAL STUDY

摘要
A numerical study of the coin-tap test has been carried out using a two-dimensional finite difference model of elastic waves in an adhesively bonded structure. Debonds in the adhesive/adherend interface of an adhesive joint have been modelled, and the response of the joint to an applied impulsive force has been investigated. The model predicts that in addition to the natural frequency of the structure, a second vibration is excited when the joint is struck over a defective region. This second vibration is of a higher frequency than the natural frequency of the joint. The coin-tap test is examined within the context of civil engineering applications of adhesive bonding. © 1990.
