INVERSE-BREMSSTRAHLUNG ABSORPTION OF STRONG LASER FIELDS IN DENSE-PLASMAS

Calculation of inverse bremsstrahlung absorption in the important high-density/high-intensity regime has to include two effects: the collisionality of the strongly-coupled plasma and the non-linear effects due to the intensity of the laser field. Standard perturbational treatments are inadequate to describe this situation; instead, a newly developed code will be presented which calculates collision rates by direct computation of particle-particle interactions. This so-called 'tree-code' is much faster than similar molecular dynamics codes because of its N log N computation time. It will be shown how the tree method combined with standard non-equilibrium techniques can be used to calculate inverse bremsstrahlung in this regime.
