OPTIMIZING A CEMENT MILL AT THE RETZNEI CEMENT WORKS

The set objectives were met after only a short operating period when cement mill 5 at the Retznei works of Perlmooser Zementwerke AG in Austria was modified from a three- to a modern two-chamber tube mill with Combi lining and an adjustable Pfeiffer diaphragm. The 18.1% improvement in throughput and the reduction in mill specific power consumption by 16.3% - or by 20.6% for the complete plant - shows that great potential for saving can be developed in existing grinding plants without detriment to the product quality.
