THE MUSLIM POPULATION OF GREAT-BRITAIN

Following the growth of Islamic consciousness in Great Britain, expressed particularly in the protests over the publication of Salman Rushdie's novel, The Satanic Verses, but also expressed in the foundation of the Islamic Party of Britain, there has been interest in the size of the Islamic community living there. Estimates have varied between one and two millions.
