In the very first line of The Jersey Law of Trusts by Paul Matthews and Terry Sowden (3rd Edition), it is stated that: "Of all the legal institutions designed to hold, create or transmit wealth, the trust is one of the most flexible." The work carried on in Jersey continues to prove that statement is as true now as it was when it was originally written and we have increasingly seen trusts used in a variety of different commercial fields. This article examines the use of trusts in international finance.
