摘要：

The survival of several religious faiths in the triumphant Christian Empire reveals that the power of the Church was not strong enough to impose its spiritual views on society. This paper analyses, through the example of the Spanish Fifth Century, the main strategies used by churchmen to deal with religious dissidence, as well as the reasons why the Church did not succeed in its purpose.
