STRESS AS A FACTOR IN THE DESIGN OF IN-CAR DRIVING ENHANCEMENT SYSTEMS

摘要
Three aspects of stress which may influence vehicle driving performance are identified: emotional distress, aggression and fatigue. Stress may accentuate the potential human factors problems associated with use of in-car systems, by adding to overload of attention, and disrupting active control of selective attention and mobilisation of effort. Effects of this kind are demonstrated in driving simulator studies. Some suggestions for system design which minimises adverse effects of stress are made.
