Comparative Analysis of the Offensive Phase between the Medalist Teams at Men's Handball Championships in Europe and Asia

The aim of this study was to determine if there were statistically significant differences in the offensive phase between the first three national teams ranked in the Men's European Championship (ECh) and the first three national teams classified in the Men's Asian Championship (ACh), both, disputed in 2014. The study focused on a comparison relating to the phases of attack (positional and counterattack), the areas of completion (9m, 6m, 7m and wings) and the offensive effectiveness of these teams by quantitatively analyzing. The data were recorded using specific software designed for this purpose specifically the PHMS. Pictorial Handball Match Statistics IHF Official (ACh) y el Swiss Timing Handball EURO (ECh). he findings of this research confirm the existence of statistically significant differences (p< 0.05) between the study groups in actions executed from the 9-m and 6-m areas of completion and in the wing area with reference to throws and goals scored, as well as in the category of shots from 7 m. The existence of statistically significant differences was also found in terms of the effectiveness of both groups in the percentages obtained corresponding to the 9-m and 6-m areas.
