摘要：

The diagnostics and therapy of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have been changed by new scientific results and new guidelines. The GDM diagnostics are now based on a two step screening program for all pregnant women with uniform measurement limits and exact standards for venous blood sampling. There are also obligatory recommendations about care and therapy during pregnancy to ensure an adequate management according to blood sugar measurements, maternal risk profile and fetal development. This article presents a summary of recent developments and an outlook on practical issues of GDM management.
