IMMIGRATION AND PUBLIC POLICIES ON INTEGRATION: THE EVOLUTION OF AN UNFINISHED PROCESS

This paper offers a panoramic perspective on different integration models, considering the theoretical and abstract categories that have been reflected in the policies of some specific countries. The evolution on migration policies has involved the need for integration policies. If there are several models of integration there is no exemplary integration. Although evolution from segregationist or assimilationist models meant to progress on recognition and respect for migrants' rights and cultural identity, this theoretical development requires real enforcement, only measurable through an objective system of indicators.
