摘要
In August 1992, a random sample of selected teaching faculty members in Nigerian Federal Universitites were asked to complete a questionnaire exploring the perceptions of the academic librarians on the campuses. The results were analysed in relation to faculties grouped in six large colleges and professional ranks. The analysis of the data focused on teaching faculty members - librarians' contacts, the usefulness of librarians and their status. Overwhelmingly, librarians were seen as professionals, managers with service functions. Other activities such as teaching and research received low ratings. Therefore, these results indicate a low acceptance of librarians as full-fledged academic colleagues in Nigeria's Universities.
