摘要
Despite the controversies surrounding glycemic control in hospitalized patients, there is substantial evidence to support the avoidance of both hyper and hypoglycemia in the perioperative setting. A multidisciplinary approach with a supportive hospital administration combined with ongoing education and training for all front line providers is critical for proper implementation of a glycemic control program. Optimal perioperative glycemic and diabetes management spans from the preoperative assessment to determine the risk for developing inpatient hyperglycemia to the postoperative glycemic management plan after discharge from the hospital. © 2009, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.
