摘要
This article presents partial results of a survey on paths and reading practices of students in their first year of studies in Buenos Aires University. The survey, conducted from contributions of sociology to reading, sought to obtain data to evaluate the impact of historical and current reading practices in performance of students in higher academic level, which in high percentage do not achieve reading goals established by the University's chairs. A quantitative and qualitative analysis allows recognition of the student as a "medium basic" reader, with a sense of belonging to a written culture, who favors literary and journalistic reading, plotted as emotional and identity practice. These representations are attributed to a school matrix, of which, when reasserting the same methods of approach to reading, does not invited the student to become familiar with various genres and experiences of reading.
