摘要
The work is devoted to carry out a comparative analysis of the system of industrial relations in Mexico, Canada and the U.S. The aim is to identify the constraints that are faced in each country in relation to the adjustment process needed to efficiently adapt the employment relation to the present economic conditions. The specific dimensions considered are: the procedures to establish an employment relation; the legal limits to trade unions monopoly power; the scope of colective agreements; the mechanisms for conflict solution; the payment system; the norms to end an employment relation and the training question. The article concludes that - as a whole - none of the three industrial systems is ''superior''. In each case, there exist particular dimensions in which one country has a ''competitive disadvantage'' and, therefore, there is a space that could justify government intervention.
