摘要
The electromagnetic induction equation is derived for a laterally heterogeneous and transversely isotropic mantle. We obtain an approximate solution which is valid for a thin shell at the base of the mantle. The poloidal magnetic field at the core-mantle boundary derived from surface observations may be biased by the poloidal-toroidal coupling due to aspherical conductivity.
