PERFORMANCE OF NEW HEVEA CLONES OF IAC SERIES 1ST SELECTION FOR THE UPLAND OF SAO-PAULO, BRAZIL

The performance of 30 rubber tree (Hevea spp.) IAC clones and five IAN, PR and PB series were studied in a small-scale trial at the Experiment Station in Jau, SP, Brazil. Most of the clones were originated from selections conducted in full-sib families derived from different crosses. At the fifty-fourth month of age of the clones, the first selection was realized in order to submit them to large-scale experiments. Plant vigor, bark thickness and leaf disease resistance were evaluated. Rubber yield was evaluated by means of the Hamaker Morris-Mann test. The IAC 15, IAC 35, IAC 41, and IAN 873 showed superior performance in comparison with the check, RRIM 600. No foliar disease with epidemic character was detected among the clones in the trial.
