Abstention in the new Mexican democracy is different of the other that prevail during the hegemonic party regime. It obeys, basically, to the discontent lived by citizenship with the shape democracy has adopted in Mexico. Expectations this regime woke up were frustrated because the poverty persistence, the paralysis of modernization, the low level of representativeness of political elite and the bad performance of democratic governments. All this has conducted to disillusion of its main promoters, the modern actors, because a good part of the support to this regime seeded expectation toward a brake down with the anomia that unlink effort and welfare.
