DOMESTIC STEEL - ITS PROSPECTS AND PROBLEMS

This report presents a cross section of thinking and opinion in domestic steel on a variety of topics for the purpose of helping steel users sort out and deal with current and anticipated changes going on within the industry. Where pertinent, distinctions are made between the integrated and specialty branches of the industry. Both the near term (through 1984) and longer term (1985 and beyond) are covered. It is pointed out where domestic steel technology is strong competitively, where it is weak, where technology is being shored up, industry strategy for dealing with world competition. and foreseeable changes in the industry of particular significance to mill customers.
