RETAINED DECIDUOUS TEETH IN THE DOG

The deciduous teeth of the dog are replaced by the permanent dentition in the first 6 - 7 months. Retained deciduous teeth result in dental crowding, malocclusion and impaction, and must therefore be removed without undue delay. The techniques are comprehensively described and illustrated in this article. Emphasis is laid upon the importance of preventive dental examination of dogs younger than 6 months.
