摘要
rough the analysis of Ngugi wa Thiong'o's "A meeting in the dark", which epitomizes the clash between tradition and modernity in colonial Africa, this article discusses the social role of African language based literatures in contexts where English figures as a dominant language and the weaknesses of postcolonial theory as a discipline that undertakes to study, understand and attenuate the dilemmas of the colonial subject.
