Information on previously known and newly discovered fractures in the producing bed of the Verkhnekamsk potassium salt deposit is presented. Development of fractures is viewed as being interrelated with the phases and conditions of folding in the salt bed. Three types of fractures are distinguished accordingly: 1) diagenetic folding fractures; 2) intraformational separation fractures; and 3) epigenetic tension fractures. The significance of these fractures as disruptions in continuity of the water-protective bed is demonstrated. A group of measures for further study is mentioned.
