HERITAGE INTERPRETATION: A CASE STUDY AT THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART MURILO MENDES

One of the most segments in the rise of the Brazilian tourism is cultural tourism. It has to do with the motivation of tourists to interpret the natural and cultural heritage. In this context the museum can become a major tourist attraction, improving the tourist development in the cities. In the city of Juiz de Fora, Museum of Modern Art Murilo Mendes is a heritage of great importance to the city with great potential for cultural tourism. Th erefore, it is necessary to consider if the heritage is well presented and enjoyed by people who visit it. For this, an analysis was made of the techniques currently used by the Museum and it was concluded that it still needs to improve interpretation techniques already used and add new methods for the space, as well as create strategies to attract a greater number of visitors.
