摘要：
A review of experimental studies on the use of water sprays as a fire and explosion suppressant is presented. Applications covered include pool fires, flame jets and coal mine explosions as well as hydrocarbon mist explosions. The possible extinction mechanisms are considered and particular attention is given to their relevance in the mitigation of gas and vapour explosions by water sprays.
