摘要
This paper summarizes the present data on visual object perception. Data from neurophysiology, psychophysics, cognitive psychology on normal subjects, neuropsychology and computational models are taken into account. The paper is divided in four main parts. The first part deals with cortical regions involved in object perception. The second part describes integration and segmentation processes of forms and the mechanisms involved in the computation of contour and surface information. The third part presents models of the organization of stored object representations and data about the role of form and surface information in object recognition. Context effects are presented in the last part which summarizes recent data on the processing of visual scenes.
