摘要
Due to the centralized control architecture in Intelligent Networks (INs), Service Control Points (SCPs) working as central servers have to carry out a great variable number of service requests coming from underlying Service Switching Points (SSPs). Appropriate congestion control considering the special IN aspects is required. In view of the importance of insuring SCP thruput during network overload, it was judged worthwhile to perform a comparative study of the effectiveness of two different SCP congestion control methods. The first one is the call rate based control using the call gapping or leaky bucket principle, the second one is the window method. This study required the development of a simulation program, to determine call thruput resulting from use of these methods under various types of overload traffic. Presentation and discussion of the results of these simulations is the primary content of this paper.
