SIMPLIFIED MODEL STUDY OF THE CHARGED-PARTICLE TRAJECTORY USING A HYPOTHETICAL SUPERCONDUCTING GUIDELINE FOR CHARGED-PARTICLE FOCUSING

摘要
A hypothetical superconducting wire creates a focusing magnetic field of cylindrical symmetry which attracts and in some sense focuses the charged particles moving in the direction of the axis of symmetry. The calculations are started analytically and continued numerically. The trajectory of a single charged particle in meridian plane is studied numerically neglecting the space charge influence. The influence of space charge is discussed. In order to decrease the eventual losses of the beam energy in the current carrying superconducting wire some possible wire arrangements are discussed. © 1990.
