摘要
Although arterial hypertension ranks among the important factors in the onset and persistence of tinnitus, our experience points out that insufficient attention is devoted to its diagnosis. We investigated 18 persons suffering from tinnitus using ABPM. Twelve (67 %) of them exhibited hypertension not known at this time, which was detected only by means of ABPM. Therefore, ABPM should be used in all patients with tinnitus, immediately after the manifestation and also during its course. Some complications of arterial hypertension, such as myocardial infarction, stroke, heart and/or kidney failure may thus be prevented.
