Monitoring of groundwater and leachate from the disposal site of municipal solid waste in the municipality of Passo Fundo

The aim of this research was the groundwater monitoring and lechiviate, from the municipal solid waste disposal site of Passo Fundo city, a partnership between the University and the public institution in order to investigate possible environment damage. Phisical-chemical analysis were carried out during the period of June 2004 and January 2005 at the waste site of disposal. The results showed that chloride, sodium, zinc, copper, nitrate and hardness values found in groundwater followed the drinking pattern. However, these waters' quality is compromised due to the eletrical condutivity, BOD and COD values. We can conclude from this study that groudwater is contaminated with lechiviate produced by solid waste of the site of disposal of Passo Fundo city.
