MOTIVATION IN THE TEACHING OF ENGLISH: AN EXPERIENCE OF OBSERVATION IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL

摘要
This article aims at thinking about the context of the English classroom in a public school to understand the motivations that generate actions in teaching-learning process. We follow the model of research in Applied Linguistics performing an ethnographic microanalysis through the use of participant observation, interviews, and questionnaires. We assume that there must be a rescue to redeem the interest of the participants of the English language classroom and that it is also necessary to obtain a practical understanding of the use of the foreign language in the students' life.
