AC loss of High-Tc superconductors in self-field by a contactless method

A transformer method well suited for measurement of AC resistance, specially AC loss, in which a ring-shaped superconducting sample acts as a terciary winding, is presented. With this device, more than two orders of magnitude (according to the numbers of turns at the secondary) in precision may be easily gained over the conventional four-lead arrangement. Very neat signals from AC loss are in fact obtained as shown here, quite similar to those found in the voltage-tap configuration.
