The total installed capacity of Canada's nuclear generating stations, which was 2500 MWe at the end of 1973, is expected to increase to more than 100,000 MWe by the year 2000. Most of these stations will be located in Ontario and Quebec. The distribution of costs for the construction and operation of a typical nuclear generating station are discussed. These data are then combined with the forecast installation of new stations to arrive at an estimate of the distribution of the total expenditures to be made for nuclear power up to the year 2000.
