摘要
In the last years, many studies have been carried out on the relationship between IT investments and the increase in organizational performance. Supermarket organizations do not escape this assumption, mainly due to the increased use of IT investments. The aim of this paper is to analyze the efficiency of IT investments by supermarkets, identify areas that use IT resources in their organization and to verify whether IT investments imply an increase of sales and profits. In this research sixteen supermarkets were analyzed using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), according to the framework by Shafer and Byrd (2000). The inputs were the average of investments in software, hardware, and labor, and the outputs, the average of annual growth of revenues and profits. The Spearmann statistical test was also used to analyze the correlation between IT investments and revenue growth. The results indicate a strong correlation among the variables studied, confirming the positive impacts of IT investments on organizational performance.
