摘要：
Objective: To describe epidemiological profile of users followed by the reference service in Tuberculosis of the Department of Health of an interior city of Rio Grande do Sul from 1999 to 2008. Method: Epidemiological study, with descriptive analysis of secondary data. Results: 977 cases have been reported, 646 (66%) were male, 594 (60.8%) adults, 732 (74.9%) had pulmonary tuberculosis, 667 (68.3%) tested negative for HIV and 783 (80.1%) closed treatment for cure. The incidence rate is greater in males and this occurrence was observed in all years of study. Conclusion: it was found that Tuberculosis affects mainly adult males, contributing to the increase of vulnerability in the economically active age. It is concluded that being aware of the epidemiological profile may contribute to the planning of actions and strategies of health and nursing professionals in tuberculosis control.
